Smiling Petals Flower Shop has a simple goal. We want all of our customers to be just like our petals—smiling! It's a mission that is close to our heart. Our shop first opened in 2020 during one of the hardest periods in our nation's history. During the Covid-19 pandemic, owners Ruth & Rick decided that people needed to be cheered up given the hard times and struggles many were facing. There is no better way to send a hug, let someone know you care, or even just simply that you're thinking about them... than by sending the gift of flowers.
A long time ago, Ruth had the opportunity to take her first Horticulture classes in high school. At the same time as her classes, she began working at a local florist. It was clear to her what she knew what she wanted to do.
A Small Husband and Wife Team Gets the Job Done 
We are a very small family-owned flower shop. Ruth handles the flowers, and Rick is who we call the "driver man". Although, you will sometimes hear Ruth joke that she "takes the order, makes the order, and sometimes even delivers the order." Rick is a former submariner and has worked alongside Ruth for several years at their previous flower shop, Petal 'n Stem. Ruth opened her first flower shop in 1982 in Sterling, VA before she and Rick moved to Beaufort in 1990 and opened their first store together in 1992.
Customer service is very important to us—making smiles is the entire reason the business was started in the first place, after all. You can be assured that the proper time is being taken to ensure the freshest and friendliest flowers are being used in your designs.
